What is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry is a service we offer for patients who need help relaxing during their dental procedures. Our primary goal is to reduce your anxiety and give you the most comfortable dental experience possible. Our higher levels of sedation also affect your memory, so although you are conscious during the entire process, you will have little to no memory of your dental appointment. That being said, we do require someone to drive you to and from your appointment for your safety!

“I've been going to Dr. Winborn for many years and have had excellent care. As well as being a great dentist, he is very personable. The ladies who manage the front desk are always courteous, friendly, and helpful. The staff believe in providing painless dental care and check on you throughout any procedure you might have.”

Types of Sedation Dentistry

Some patients have dental anxiety and appreciate sedation dentistry. It is possible to be relaxed and at ease while receiving dental treatment. Our dental sedation is achieved by taking a small pill the night before and the morning of your dental appointment. You will need to have someone drive you to and from your appointment. Once in our office, you will be seated comfortably until your procedure begins. We will place a nosepiece over your nose to administer oxygen and nitrous, also known as laughing gas. You will remain conscious throughout the treatment. Most patients are unaware of what is happening. We will be constantly monitoring your vital signs to assure your safety! We use sedation for many oral surgery and cosmetic dentistry cases.

Dr. Winborn is licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Dental Examiners to administer conscious sedation to reduce your dental anxiety and provide a more comfortable dental experience.

Is Sedation Dentistry safe?

Yes! Sedation dentistry is safe for most patients. We will complete a free sedation consultation where we will review your medical history and medications to see if you'd be a good candidate for sedation dentistry. We will also answer any questions you may have before your dental sedation treatment!
